Hope you guys were able to come out to this year’s Arts Crawl!

Here’s SOMA and VASA after Ramona Falls’s performance.

People that go to Penn State!!!

stalkhop:

Today is mother-effing Arts Crawl! You know what that means don’t you? Oh you don’t? You have no idea what that means?

Well lemme explain it to you! Arts Crawl is a student organized event that showcases student artwork from the year and local musicians and also some artsy clubs. It is 100% free and takes place in North Campus, with the Visual Arts Building as the hypothetical “hub” of the day. From 5:30 till right before the headliner RAMONA FALLS comes on at 10pm, bands will be playing simultaneously in various rooms and buildings as well as a shitton of the coolest art EVER!

It’s pretty much one of my favorite events out of the entire year. What other event is there that shows off great art and gives you free food and ear candy?

None, I say. None.

So come out and have some fun, screen print some things, get your photograph taken, and experience the artsy side of Penn State that is usually kept hidden. It’s there, I promise.

I’ll be wandering around wearing a kick ass Arts Crawl shirt (there’s a jet-pack wearing squid on it) that you could buy at a merch table, money will go to SOMA who organize the event with VASA and put on local concerts and events throughout the year. Come find me. :)

SO.
I’m not technically in SOMA anymore. But that club is awesome and they are bringing Atlas Sound (Bradford Cox of Deerhunter) to Penn State this coming Saturday. (For those of you in PA:  Here is the event page )
I’m not designing the event flyer. BUT I’m addicted to designing these things. So I figured there’s nothing wrong with making a commemorative poster, right? Right? Right.
Anyways. I caved. It’s not official, but I gotta admit I’m pretty proud of this one. Aaand I made a few different color variations. (Because I can never settle on just one)
Hope you guys like it. And if you can make it to this show, it’s free, so GO. Some really talented bands are opening.

The show is tonight guys! Hope to see you there! Thanks to our awesome past president for creating this amazing poster!

Attention PA bands:

SOMA is looking for local artists to perform at this year’s Arts Crawl. It is an annual student-run event at Penn State that gives people the chance to show the community their talents and work. Arts Crawl will be on March 30 from 5 to 10 and we are looking for 15-20 bands from PA to play throughout the evening. While you’re not playing you can wander around and look at the exhibits or watch other bands! We also pay you a bit, so that’s good right? If you’re from Baltimore-ish or southern NY you can apply but preference goes to performers from PA.

If anyone sees this who is in a band or knows people in a band please pass this along to them! We accept any genre. Look at the facebook page for more information.

If you go to Penn State you should definitely come out! It’s always a fun time. If you’re an art student or in a club that does visual arts, music, photography, film, lithography, screenprinting, anything really - contact psusoma@gmail.com or someone from your department to get a spot!

Battle of the bands!

Is tonight @ 6 in 315 of the Visual Arts Building. Come and support local music.
The event is sponsored by Jansport and there will be free stuff and give sways for all attendants! :)
